William Edward O'Connor

William Edward “Bill” O’Connor died May 6, 2019. Bill was born in Springfield MA, lived in East Longmeadow and most recently Longmeadow, MA where he was raised. Bill graduated from Hartwick College with a B.S. in Chemistry. He retired from MacDermid Enthone as a chemical sales engineer recognized in the industry for his expertise in metal finishing and electroplating. Bill leaves his mother, Teresa O’Connor, wife Nadine Buckley, and daughter Dana O’Connor, all of Longmeadow, along with daughter Jessica O’Connor PhD of Agawam, MA. He is also survived by aunts Alice Kay and Mary Kopy, cousins Beth and David Barykomb, Michael and Tania Kopy, David and Joyce Kopy and Pamela Tuckey, sister in law Deborah Buckley and brother in law Terrance Buckley. He was predeceased by his father, William O’Connor. An avid golfer, “Oakie” was a past member of Hampden and The Orchards and most recently Twin Hills Country Club and could tell you about a course and the architect who created it. Bill was an eclectic and accomplished guitarist with a love of all music genres and a devotee of Frank Zappa. Bill loved life, laughed at life and enjoyed his friends who were like brothers Tim and Mark Vecchiarelli, Kevin Gould and Stanley Atwood. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12PM on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at St. Mary’s Church, 519 Longmeadow St., Longmeadow, followed by a reception in the Parish Center.
