Longmeadow - Wanda B. Gustafson of 93 years passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Born in Springfield MA on January 6, 1930, Wanda was the daughter of Eva and John Smolkowicz and grew up in Indian Orchard MA. She was a graduate of Commerce High School.
Wanda was a long time resident of Longmeadow MA with her beloved husband Charles of 49 years. She was a dedicated communicant of St. Mary’s church in Longmeadow MA. Wanda was a full time mother and homemaker. Wanda’s heart was filled with love for her family and faith. A true matriarch of the Gustafson family, she gave them everlasting love, guidance, laughter, her quick wit and unshakeable support. Wanda had an incredible work ethic and dedicated herself to her son’s and grandchildren’s professional development.
Wanda loved the ocean and spent many years enjoying Cape Cod with her family. She and her husband could be found on many weekends in the Berkshires and Vermont enjoying the crisp mountain air, skiing and the hearty cuisine. Wanda loved getting together with her “Golden Girls” sisters to sing, tell jokes, buy scratch tickets and share fond family memories.
Wanda will be deeply missed by her sons David Gustafson (Janis), Bryan Gustafson (Donna) and Craig Gustafson (Wendy), as well as her beloved grandchildren Grace, Bryan, Max, Lisa, Kelly and many nieces, nephews and friends. Wanda was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Charles Gustafson and her son Mark Gustafson (Mary), as well as her sisters Mary Migdoll, Helen LaBossier, Sylvia Cieplik, Carolyn Garvey, and brothers Joseph Smolkowicz and Jerome Forbes.
