September 30, 1940 ~ October 2, 2018 (age 78) 78 Years Old
Longmeadow – Sandra “Sandy” Jean (Ciaschini) Langone, 78, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister died on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. She was born in Springfield to the late Anthony and Lucy (Battistoni) Ciaschini on September 30, 1940. She was a 1958 graduate of Springfield Technical High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education form American International College (AIC) in 1962. She later received her Master’s Degree in Guidance from AIC in 1972. Sandy was an Elementary School Teacher for over 30 years in the Springfield School System. She taught at Sumner Avenue School, Tiffany Street School and also was a teacher in the Gifted and Talented Program in several Springfield schools. Sandy retired form Mary Walsh Elementary School in 2003. A communicant of St. Mary’s she was very active in the Lady’s Guild, Co-Vice-President for 2 years and Co-President for 2 years. Sandy loved to travel throughout Europe and the U.S., and enjoyed cruises to Hawaii, the Caribbean, and Alaska. This smart, lovely and kind woman will be greatly missed especially for her wit and charm. Sandy leaves her loving husband of 56 years, Richard Langone; her sons, Michael Langone and his wife Linda of Seattle, WA, and Mark Langone and his wife Kimberly of Plymouth, MA; 2 granddaughters, Paloma and Kaitlin Langone; 2 sisters, Marie Vorhees and her husband Donald of Clermont, FL, and Norma Kozaka and her husband John of North Easton, MA; many nieces and nephews; and many close friends. A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held on Friday, October 5th beginning with a visiting hour from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the Forastiere Smith Funeral and Cremation, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow followed by a procession to St. Mary’s Church, Longmeadow for a Funeral Mass at 11:30AM. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Springfield. Donations in Sandy’s memory may be made to Acute Myeloid Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 98018, Washington, DC 20090-8018.
