Ruth Morrill

SOUTHWICK- Ruth (Ryerson) Morrill, 88, wife of 34 years to the late Dana Morrill, passed away on January 9, 2019. Ruth was born in Haverhill, MA, the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Davis) Ryerson; but was a resident here for over 50 years.  She retired in 1993 from the Woodland School in Southwick; where she taught Kindergarten for 28 years. Ruth was a 1952 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She was a member of the Retired Massachusetts Teachers Association- Boston, Friends of the Southwick Public Library, American Sewing Guild of Medford, Massachusetts, and the Southwick Historical Society. Ruth was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Gilbert (2005); a brother Frank Ryerson (2003); and granddaughter Nicole Gilbert – Dekarz (2009) .

She is survived by a son, David F. Morrill of Southwick, with whom she lived; a daughter and husband, Elizabeth and Mark Smolen of Westfield; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie Wood, Amanda Wood and her fiancé Keith Little; and a son in law, Glenn Gilbert of Plymouth, MA.

A calling hour will take place from 10:00AM – 11AM on Tuesday, January 15th, 2019 in the Southwick Forastiere Family Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick. A private funeral service and burial will follow.
