Robert J. Marchetti Jr.

Robert J. Marchetti Jr., passed away unexpectedly November 23, 2019. Born July 27, 1946 in Goodland, KS, he was a son to the late Robert “Gino” Sr. and Vivian (Rasmussen) Marchetti. In 1965, Robert graduated from Technical High School in Springfield and joined the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 104 where he was a member for nearly 45 years, served as the business agent and manager for 13 years and retired 10 years ago. Robert was also employed with Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant and was the general foreman for Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant in Seabrook, NH. During his years of employment, he had the opportunity to work for a military base on Kwajalein Island, part of the Marshall Islands in the North Pacific. Robert was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards and golfing, and was a member of both Elmcrest and Springfield Country Clubs. He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth Presnal; step-son Michael Frank Presnal and his wife Cristina; three cherished grandchildren Ava, Joseph and Olivia; sisters Mary Tranghese and her husband John and Anne Milette and her husband Paul; brothers Billy Marchetti and his wife Mia and Jack Marchetti; and his loving and caring sisters-in-law Beverly Morton, Donna Ashjian and her husband Jim, and Charlotte Caskey and her husband Scott. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends including his longtime dear friend Joseph Mancuso. A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Robert will be held at 10AM on Monday, December 2, 2019 at St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham, MA with burial following in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s name to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104-2396.
