Obituary

Paul G Mondoux Sr., 73 passed away peacefully at home on May 27, 2023. He was born in Springfield, MA on June 3, 1949 to the late Norman and Stella (Cormier) Mondoux. He grew up in East Longmeadow, MA and was a graduate of East Longmeadow High School. In 1968 joined the U.S. Army National Guard serving for 8 years and was Honorably Discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. Paul attended both WNEC and STCC after high school and returned to school later in life obtaining his HVAC certificate from STCC in 1997. Paul started working for the town of E. Longmeadow DPW and was an East Longmeadow volunteer firefighter. The majority of his career was working for WMECO in various roles including meter reader, collections dept electric shut off and finally as Substation Maintenance Lead. Paul worked for Crown Properties on Day Hill Ave in Windsor CT as the Maintenance Mechanic Manager where he worked from 1999 to 2005 when he retired. Paul was a proud member of both the American Legion Post 0293 and Sisto Lombardi Post 64 ITAM Vets of East Longmeadow where he was a continuously active member for 51 years.
Paul’s hobbies included drag racing at Lebanon Valley Dragway in NY along with other New England tracks in his 88 Mustang. This hobby started in high school and continued throughout his entire life. When he wasn’t racing, he was watching it on TV. Paul also followed the stock market closely and was active in day trading giving financial advice to loved ones and all who asked. He loved the lottery and always had his tickets played with his numbers. Paul was an avid sports fan playing baseball in his youth and golf and his love for the games continued with following sports. He never missed watching a golf match on television.
Paul is survived by a daughter Laurie Joaquim and her husband Ed of Enfield, CT., and his son Paul “PJ” Mondoux Jr. of Springfield. His five grandsons Matthew and wife Alison Burkhard of Weeki Wachee, FL., Andrew and wife Carissa Burkhard of Monson, MA. Patrick Burkhard and fiancée Julianna St. Laurent of Stafford Springs, CT. Jakob Mondoux of Springfield, MA. And Nick Joaquim of Enfield, CT. He leaves a great granddaughter Briella Burkhard of Stafford Springs, CT.
His brothers Richard (Corey) and Raymond Mondoux and a sister Susan (Bill) Krolewicz along with several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his former wife and mother of his children Julianne (McCabe) Mondoux.
Paul also leaves close friend and roommate for several years Tom Delphie of West Springfield.
Services will be Wednesday June 7, 2023 at 10 am at St. Martha’s Church 214 Brainard Rd Enfield CT with burial immediately following ceremony at St Michael’s Cemetery in Springfield MA.
