Paul Martin Kaplita
1953-2023

West Springfield – Paul Martin Kaplita, 69, passed away on January 23, 2023 at Mercy Hospital after a short illness. He was the beloved son of the late Marie (Talbot) Kaplita and Leopold M. Kaplita. Paul lived in the Bondsville section of Palmer for fifty years until his parents died, moved to Holyoke for several years and finally lived at Prosper Senior Living in West Springfield.

He worked at Riverside Industries and the UMass Amherst dining commons. Paul had many interests. He enjoyed drawing, painting and woodworking and also loved classic movies, music, history and travel. He toured Washington D.C. several times, Williamsburg VA, the Pocono Mountains and Amish Country in Pennsylvania, New York City and Bar Harbor Maine.

Paul leaves his devoted cousin, MaryJane Cook and her husband James of Andover, MA, as well as many other cousins from his large extended family. He also leaves his long-time aide and friend of twenty years, Janet Plouffe-McColl.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 10:30 – 11:30 AM at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow. A funeral home service will take place at 11:30 AM followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Berkshire Ave, Indian Orchard.
