Feeding Hills- Lois (Franklin) Smus 79, passed away on November 16, 2019; surrounded by her loving family. Born in Pawtucket, RI, the daughter of the late Nathan and Alice (Smith) Franklin, Lois was a resident of Feeding Hills for 55 years. She retired from N.C.C.I. (National Council on Compensation Insurance) where she was employed as an Analyst. Previously, Lois worked at Dynatax; and United Technologies Research Center, East Hartford. She was a very active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Feeding Hills , where she was a member of the St. Martha’s Guild, R.C.I.A., Nocturnal Adoration Society, Eucharistic Minister, and Altar Server. She was also a member of Apostolate of the Suffering and the Agawam Senior Center. Lois enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Her husband Richard “Dick” P. Smus, to whom she was married to for 55 years, predeceased her earlier this year ,on July 28, 2019. Lois is survived by a son, Peter Smus and his wife Gina; a daughter Kristen Castonguay and partner John Martin, all of Feeding Hills; 4 grandchildren, Michele (husband Michael), Matthew (wife Silvana) Kirk, and Shayne; great granddaughter Arianna; and her brother Allan Franklin and his wife Pat, of Pensacola, FL.; along with extended family members.
Funeral services will begin at 8:45AM on Wednesday (Nov. 20, 2019) from the Colonial Forastiere Family Funeral Home, 985 Main St. , Agawam; with a Liturgy of Christian Burial, celebrated, at 10AM in Sacred Heart Church, 1065 Springfield St., Feeding Hills. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, West Springfield. Calling hours are on Tuesday (Nov.19, 2019) from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at the funeral home. www.forastiere.com
