EAST LONGMEADOW- John P. Clough, Jr.,89, passed away peacefully at Baystate Medical Center on August 14, 2019. John was born in Worcester, MA on May 25, 1930 to the late John and Rubena (Bartlett) Clough. He served proudly in the United States Navy, as a Seabee during the Korean Conflict, and later went on to work as a cabinet maker, retiring as a teacher from Putnam Vocational Technical H.S.. John had many passions including carpentry, bike riding, clamming, and was Master Nantucket Basketweaver, and the "salt-life', but most of all John was a family man. To cherish his memory John leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years Maureen (Donovan) Clough; sons John and Edwin B. Clough both of Vermont; daughters Marcella Segall (Daniel) Massachusetts, Cathleen DiDonato (John) of North Carolina, and Addie Carabetta( Jeffrey E.L., Massachusetts); grandchildren Jason Clough (Dara), Jennifer Fromme (Timothy), Edwin and Lynne Ann Clough, Christopher, Mary and Sarah Segall, John and Hadley DiDonato; Marie and Alice Carabetta, and 6 great- grandchildren. A funeral home service will be held for John on Wednesday, August 21, beginning at 9:30AM at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow, with an hour of visitation preceding the service from 8:30AM-9:30AM. Burial with military honors will follow at 11AM at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers donations in John’s honor can be made to the charity of one's choice.
