Joanna M. Fazio

Feeding Hills – Joanna M. (Bara) Fazio passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018, after a brief illness, with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Adele (Papuzynski) Bara. Joanna grew up in West Springfield and was a 1965 West Springfield High School graduate. She was a beautician for many years working for Elegant Reflections and then she had her own shop, before working at the Agawam Senior Center where she worked in the kitchen for 20 years. Both career paths were well suited for her as she loved people and always made them feel special. She enjoyed her position in the kitchen at the senior center since she loved to cook and being social with all the members of the senior center. This is where she developed her artistry of painting. Joanna was very proud of her family. She was a beloved wife for over 50 years to her husband Ottavio T. Fazio. She is also survived by her two adored sons: Robert Fazio of Feeding Hills, and David Fazio and his wife Carla of Feeding Hills; her grandchildren Garrett Southworth and Jessica Fazio; her brothers Edward Bara and his wife Ann of West Springfield, and Joseph Bara of Feeding Hills; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Michele and Nuccia Fazio, Cosimo and Angela Cordi, Ilda Fazio, Rick and Judy Marini, Adelina (Fazio) Cianflone, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Joanna was predeceased by her brother Donald Bara and his wife Mary, her brother-in-law Antonio Fazio and her sister-in-law Carolina (Fazio) Marini.
Services for Joanna will begin with visiting hours on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 4:00-7:00pm at Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation on 985 Main Street in Agawam. The funeral will be on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 8:45am at the funeral home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Sacred Heart Church; and burial will follow in Springfield Street Cemetery in Feeding Hills. Donations may be made in Joanna’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
