East Longmeadow – Joan (Sexton) Kuehl, 77, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend died suddenly on Sunday, January 6, 2019. She was born in Springfield to the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Burke) Sexton. She was a 1959 graduate of Cathedral High School. Joan was integral in the success of Northeast Metrology. When she was raising her children she was a Den Mother and Brownie Leader and their biggest cheerleader. Joan was a former member of St. Michael’s Women’s Club, and a member of St. Paul’s Women’s Guild. Joan was an extremely personable person who enjoyed meeting people. She and her husband Bob were members of the PV-8 NAFCA Camping Association and spent many years traveling in their camper making lasting friends. She enjoyed singing, dancing and bowling and was a Red Sox, Patriots and Eagles fan. Most of all she loved to be at home spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Neil Sexton; and her brother-in-law, Thomas Christopher. She leaves her loving husband of 55 years, Robert J. Kuehl; her sons, Michael Kuehl of Vernon Hills, IL; and Mark Kuehl and his wife Christine of Springfield; her daughter, Maureen Paquin and her husband Richard of South Hadley; 6 grandchildren, Bethany and her wife Katie, Colleen, Grant, Alexander, Ryan, and Lillian; her sisters, Janet Kittler and her husband Stephen of Jacksonville, NC, and Jayne Christopher of Feeding Hills; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Kuehl and his wife Virginia of Stafford Springs, CT. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, January 9th from 4-7PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Joan’s funeral service will be on Thursday, January 10th from the funeral home at 8:45AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Springfield at 10AM.
