James M. Chiecko

James M. Chiecko, 78, passed away on June 27, 2022. Born in Springfield, MA on April 9, 1944 to the late Charles Chiecko, Sr. and Florence (Kupka) Chiecko, he was a graduate of Chicopee High School in the Class of 1962. He then graduated in 1966 from AIC with his Bachelor of Arts Degree. Jim also attended a PhD program at NYU From 1966 to 1968.

From 1969 to 1995, he was employed at Aetna Life & Casualty. Once the financial division was acquired by ING, he became the Director of Trading Equities, retiring in 2004. He was a member of many professional organizations including the National Organization of Investment Professionals, NY Stock Exchange Institutional Traders Committee and the Securities Traders Association of CT of which he was a Past President.

Jim was an outdoorsman, a hunter and an avid fly fisherman who loved to tie his own flies. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening, having the ability to name almost any plant by both common and Latin names. He liked to vacation by the ocean in Kennebunkport, ME and Orleans, MA.

Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brothers Richard Chiecko and Charles Chiecko, Jr.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his loving partner of over 20 years, Judy Green of East Longmeadow; his children Michael Chiecko of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Leslie Chiecko of New York City, NY; Judy’s children Dana Green and his wife Anne-Marie and their children Clara and Maeve of Arlington, MA and Stephanie Kaiser and her husband Richard of Braintree, MA; his brother Gregory Chiecko and his wife Mary Ann of Chicopee, MA as well as many nieces and nephews including Jeffrey Chiecko and his wife Julie.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 4 – 6 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022 beginning at 11:15 AM at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM at St. Michael’s Parish, 128 Maple Street, East Longmeadow. Burial will be in Billings Hill Cemetery, East Longmeadow.
