Evrydike Eliopoulos
June 25, 1921 ~ June 5, 2023 (age 101) 101 Years Old
Evrydike Eliopoulos 1921-2023 Springfield- Evrydike “Vicky” (Yiannacopoulos) Eliopoulos, 101, who was the devoted wife of the late Miltiades Eliopoulos, passed into eternal life on June 5, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Evrydike was born on June 25, 1921 in Vresthena, Laconia, Greece. She was the daughter of the late George and Chrisoula (Stavropoulos) Yiannacopoulos. She immigrated to the United States in 1947. She met and married the love of her life, Miltiades in Springfield in May of 1948. Vicky worked as a seamstress, employed by Carters prior to her retirement. Evrydike’s faith was extremely important to her. She was a longtime member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield. She was at church every Sunday, never wanting to miss a service. Evrydike was a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society and the Over 60 Club. Family was everything to Evrydike. She is survived by her son, George Eliopoulos and his wife Claudie and daughter Irene Collins. She was a Yiayia to 4 granddaughters, who were her world; Anne-Sophie, Nicole (Yianni), Kristina (Joe), and Emilie. She had two great grandchildren who brought her immense joy, Stathi and Evrithiki, her namesake. Evrydike had a very special place in her heart for her Goddaughter Chris, her nephew George and their daughter Stephanie who provided “Nouna” with much help and companionship. She loved going to their house and having cookouts and coffee in their backyard. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends both in America and Greece. Evrydike loved to cook. She showed her love through hospitality and hosting at her house. Family loved to gather around her table, eat traditional Greek food (always starting with avgolemono soup), listen to Yiayia’s stories, and end the day with ice cream sundaes and koulourakia. It did not matter who was there, Vicky treated everyone with the same caring love which touched so many. One of her favorite traditions was having her four granddaughters sleepover for a week during the summer. She loved taking them to the park, out to eat, and shopping. Evrydike will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. May her memory be eternal.
