Cornelia M. Brown

Cornelia M. “Connie” (McCarthy) Brown, 83, of Springfield, Massachusetts passed away peacefully early Monday morning on December 2, 2019 at the Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow.
Connie was born on November 23, 1936 in Holyoke, Massachusetts to Cornelius and Katherine (Seward) McCarthy. She was a long-time Springfield resident and a graduate of the High School of Commerce class of 1955. Connie became employed by Verizon and was an I.B.E.W. member. She remained a career long employee for over 35 years. She had a reputation of never missing work, she was a frequent blood donor and contributed generously to the United Way.
Connie’s greatest joy in life was her family. Her kids and grandchildren and their happiness is what made her the happiest throughout her life, she was always optimistic and cheerful even throughout recent years of declining health. She continued to enjoy her old movies, shopping and dining out with family and her grandchildren’s lively personalities.
Connie is survived by her son Richard and spouse Mary Brown of West Springfield and her daughter Deborah Mack and spouse Ronald of Longmeadow, five grandchildren Brendan Brown of Southwick, Ryan Mack of San Francisco CA., Audra Brown of Hartford CT, Gabrielle Mack of East Longmeadow and Jonathan Mack of Washington DC. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law June and Gene Saunders of Tewksbury. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday December 6, 2019 from 10-12pm in the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow MA.
