Ciro "Babe" Rovelli

Springfield – Ciro “Babe” Rovelli, 95, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 in Baystate Medical Center with his devoted daughter by his side. Born in Springfield, Babe was one of five children to his parents Joseph and Anna (Bonavita) Rovelli. He graduated from Springfield schools and was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He worked in the Civil Defense Department for the City of Springfield for many years before co-owning the Coral Lounge in the South End of Springfield. Babe was a lifetime member of the Springfield Elks and enjoyed the horse track and walking every day. He will be missed for his caring and giving personality. Babe will be remembered for his smile and the help he gave to so many over the years.
Babe was predeceased by his beloved wife of 44 years Patricia Ann (McGowan) Rovelli in 2006. He is survived by their daughter BethAnn Rovelli of Springfield and son Paul of Springfield, daughter-in-law Patricia Stone, three grandchildren: Francesco, Nicholas and Gabriele, and two great-grandchildren: Athena and Olivia. Besides his wife and parents, Babe was predeceased by his siblings: Nino, Dolphi and Junie Rovelli and Shirley Mazza.
A celebration of Babe’s life will begin on Thursday, October 18, 2018 with visiting hours from 5:00-7:00pm at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation on 220 N. Main Street in East Longmeadow. The funeral will begin on Friday, October 19th at 8:45am at the funeral home, followed by a 10am Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Springfield.
