Obituary

Christopher A Sullivan, 71, of East Longmeadow, passed away on July 10, 2018. He was a beloved long-time science educator and administrator at East Longmeadow High School. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Fitchburg. He earned his Bachelor's from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and his Master's from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He was the husband of Nancy H (Meisl) Sullivan. They were married for 25 years and she was the center of his universe.  He is survived by his mother Julia E (Figueroa) Sullivan, sister Sandie Feeley and her husband Jay, his brother Charlie and his partner Lisa Mueller, and his loving mother-in-law Helen Meisl. Chris was the kindest, most generous and endlessly loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He had an insatiable curiosity, contagious laugh and could fix anything. He was a go-to resource for his friends and family, as he seemed to know about everything, especially cars. With Google and an afternoon, Chris could fix an iPhone, cuckoo clock or car air conditioner. The History and Velocity channels have lost their biggest fan. Chris was an avid traveler who had visited all the continents and many islands. His taste for adventure included the local cuisine wherever he was. He survived the earthquake in Nepal in 2015. He believed in the goodness and decency of all people, and he had a knack for bringing out the very best in his oldest friends and those he just met. But what mattered most to Chris was his family. There was no recital, race, concert, competition or graduation that he would miss. He captured each family moment with a group selfie - even when over 30 people sat around the Thanksgiving table. In a hard moment, his words were the wisest and his hugs the tightest. Chris' loving family includes Traudi and Bob Thomason, Josef and Brenda Meisl, Irene Concannon, Kathy Meisl and Helen McDermott, and Stephan and Kellie Meisl.
His nieces and nephews are Tim & Jodi Feeley, Amanda Feeley & Andrew Mayer, Sean Sullivan, Brian Sullivan, Daniel Mueller, Jennifer Mueller, Bobbi Thomason, Hope Thomason, Keith & Heather Thomason, Josef & Annie Meisl, William Meisl, Liberty Meisl, Lantana Meisl, Stephanie & Chris Regan, Brigit & James Nastro, Michell & Jim Ingrassia, and Benjamin Meisl. His grand-nieces and grand-nephews are Payton Noyes, Julia Feeley, John Feeley, Henry Norcrosse, Elsie & Tessa Regan, Josef Meisl, Patrick Nastro, Emery Thomason, Helen Ingrassia, and Paige, Gracyn, Brayden & Layne Thomason. Chris also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and wonderful friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael H. Rosen and the nurses and staff at the Sr Caritas Cancer Center for the wonderful care and love they gave to Chris. A memorial service in celebration of Chris' life will be held on Saturday, July 14 at 11:00 AM at the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St, E. Longmeadow, MA. Calling hours will be on Friday, July 13 from 4:00 to 7:00.
