Helen Hamor Seabury

May 19, 1923 ~ November 13, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old
Longmeadow - Helen Hamor Seabury, 94, of Longmeadow died on Monday, November 13 at her home. Helen was born in Bar Harbor, Maine on May 6, 1923 to Katherine and Leslie Hamor. She graduated from Bar Harbor High School and Lesley College. Helen was a real estate broker in Greater Springfield for more than fifty years and was honored by the Realtor Association of Pioneer Valley for her fifty years of service. Her professional designations include Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Certified Buyer Representative (CBR). She was an avid tennis player, and later an accomplished bridge player until her death. She was active at the Springfield Bridge Club, the Longmeadow Senior Center, and bridge clubs in Northeast Harbor and Ellsworth, Maine. She was a former member of the Junior League of Springfield and the Longmeadow Country Club and a volunteer reader in the Longmeadow schools. Helen was also a member of St. Andrew’s Church in Longmeadow and St. Saviour’s Church in Bar Harbor. She moved from Bar Harbor to Springfield in 1947 and to Longmeadow in 1954. While a resident of Longmeadow for more than 60 years, in her heart, Bar Harbor was always her real home. She built a home there in 1999, where she spent the summer months until her death. Her family will always remember her love and the teachings of grace, humility, good humor, and the faith and principles she instilled in all of them. She had countless close friends, many of whom considered her their “mother”, “grandmother” or “aunt”. She really was “one of a kind.” In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Coston and her husband, Paul; her brother, Hoyt Hamor, and his wife, Nancy, their children, Julie and Charles Hamor, and her daughter-in-law, Karen Bishop Seabury. She leaves her four sons, Hoyt, her wonderful and loving caregiver with whom she lived, his twin brother, Scott and his wife, Linda, Richard and his partner, Kari Divito, and Leland and his wife, Donna. She also leaves her grandchildren, Anne Seabury Martin and her husband Ryan, Chelsea Seabury Smith and her husband, Kevin, Tyler, Austin and Kyle Seabury, Nicholas and Alicia Divito; and her great granddaughter, Kinsley Smith. She also leaves her nieces, Katherine Hamor, Barbara Hamor Stoneham, Helen Coston Witham and Mary Jane Coston Whitney; and her nephew, Paul Coston, Jr. Funeral services and burial will be in Bar Harbor at a later date. There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Church or St. Saviour’s Church.
