Barbara Jean Veto

SPRINGFIELD – Barbara Jean “BJ” Veto, 86, passed away on September 16, 2017 at Wingate at Hampden. Born in Springfield, MA on July 20, 1931, she was the daughter of the late James and Ethel Maloney. She had worked at Macy’s and was a hairdresser for over 40 years. She loved to go to Mohegan Sun and also enjoyed bowling. Predeceased by her husband George I. Veto, who passed away on June 4, 1992, Barbara leaves her sons to cherish her memory, Donald and his wife Nancy of Westfield, Mark and his wife Carol of Holyoke and Paul of Springfield; her sister Mary Christine Howlett of Florida and brother, Fran Maloney of Chicopee as well as six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Wingate at Hampden for their loving care. Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 10 AM – 12 Noon at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA with a funeral service at 12 Noon. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Tinkham Road, Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011.
